Laura Justice, Ph.D.
Reading is one of the highest priorities in education and in leading a productive life, and Dr. Laura Justice has dedicated her research to finding ways to improve the chances that children will be able to read at appropriate levels as they enter and pursue their school careers.
In this interview, Dr. Justice describes studies showing how parents and teachers can take advantage of some of the characteristics of print to assist children in getting the clues about printed words and the sense of stories. She also discusses work that assessed the effectiveness of many of the most popular reading curricula used in U.S. classrooms today. The results of that evaluation might be surprising.
