Mary Ellen Wewers, Ph.D.
Dr. Wewers is Associate Dean for Research & Faculty Development, and Professor, Division of Health Behavior and Health Promotion, in the college of Public Health. She has devoted her career to the problems of smoking cessation. Seeing tobacco as a major issue contributing to degraded health of smokers and others around them, she has undertaken projects to determine the most effective techniques. Currently working on a major project in the Ohio Appalachian region, she is a strong proponent of eliminating tobacco – in all forms – from the individual life style.
Dr. Wewers is also a key member of the of the new Center for Clinical and Translational Science, and will be leading efforts to seek community feedback on research directions.
